[Collection for Organology, Kunitachi College of Music]

What is “Kunitachi College of Music Gakkigaku Shiryōkan”?

In addition to the systematical collection and exhibition of musical instruments from all around the world, the museum conducts research on the instruments, collects documents, sound materials, catalogues, and documents, and work on the restoration of musical instruments. Also, it organizes “lecture concerts” with commentary by experts from time to time.

There are two main exhibition areas. The “Permanent Exhibition Area” with keyboard instruments such as a 19th-century fortepiano, harpsichord, and clavichord, as well as ethnic instruments from around the world. The “Special Exhibit Area” is home to time―exclusive exhibitions with specialized themes.
